OPPORTUNISTIC LEADERS NEED TO RESPECT THE EFFORTS OF RAILA ODINGA

It is baffling and to all purposes an indication of cognitive dissonance that some highl opportunistic leaders who were not party to the handshake and who have benefited from the handshake are asking Raila Odinga to forego the handshake benefits in their favor. Talk of Hyenas waiting for the spoils after the hunt.

Without the courage of the handshake, Kenya would today be unstable and ungovernable, even for cowards who cower when the going gets tough.

It is essential that we have a country of political hygiene that is fair and recognizes efforts by all. Raila Odinga is one of my competitors in my quest to be the next President. However, I have to respect him and give him his due and not try to use his efforts for self benefit as others are doing.

Leaders need to stop being opportunistic and using the poverty of their tribes as bargaining chips whereas their development scorecards are in the negative.

KDF PASS OUT

President Kenyatta presides over the passing out parade of the Kenya Defence Forces recruits at Moi Barracks in Uasin Gishu. Over 3,000 soldiers are graduating today from the Recruits Training School.

Police in Ahero have arrested a middle aged woman for allegedly scalding her husband using hot cooking oil over family wrangles. She allegedly boiled the cookin g oil and poured it on her husband of 28 years while he was asleep following an earlier quarrel he had with their son. The victim identified as Francis Ochieng is currently admitted at the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital.

CRISIS MEETING IN STATEHOUSE

Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga and President Uhuru Kenyatta are expected to be hold up in a closed-door meeting today at the statehouse a day after a phone call over alleged fall out. During the meeting, the ODM leader will come face to face with his NASA counterpart and Amani National Congress leader Musalia Mudavadi and Wiper democratic movement leader Kalonzo Musyoka. Also expected in the meeting are Former council of governors Chair Wickliffe Oparanya, Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu and Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho.

RAI CEMENT MANAGER FOUND DEAD

Rai Cement Limited’s General Manager, Chetan Vyas was found murdered in his home. killed by unknown men, who gained access to his Kipsitet house in Kericho County through the roof. After accessing Chetan’s bedroom, the three-man gang tied his hands and legs, and, thereafter, strangled him. An unknown amount of money was stolen from the house. Police are looking for 3 men who may be involved in the murder. Robert Apiny reports.

How DP Ruto caused drama in JKIA clash with Uhuru’s trusted official Ruto had gone to receive Uhuru as he returned from Rwanda Deputy President William Ruto on Wednesday caused drama at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) after he confronted Interior PS Karanja Kibicho – accusing him of sabotaging his 2022 presidential campaign. The People Daily quoted its sources indicating that a visibly angered Ruto did not waste chances after spotting Kibicho in the delegation that was to receive President Kenyatta. He is said to have hurriedly walked to the PS and went on a 15-minute tirade as other members of the delegation watched in silence. Among those present were Chief of Defense Forces Samson Mwathethe, senior military officials, and Inspector General of Police Hilary Mutyambai. UPDATE: Raila Odinga visits Bomet Governor Joyce Laboso at a hospital in London. "In London, H.E Raila Odinga, accompanied by Kenya’s High Commissioner to the U.K Manoah Esipisu visited Bomet Governor Joyce Laboso who is recovering at a local hospital. ONYANGO OLOO IN TROUBLE

The detectives are investigating the loss of millions of shillings during the construction of Lake Basin Development Authority mall in Kisumu. Oloo was the LBDA chair between 2014 and 2015. The initial tender for the LBDA project was Sh2.5 billion, but by the time Oloo left the office, the authority had committed Sh3.8 billion, a variation of more than the 25 per cent permitted by the law. EACC is probing the cost variation in the project and the decision by the authority to use a government agency to secure a loan from the Cooperative Bank without the Attorney General's authorisation. Oloo said that no money had been paid by the authority by the time he left the office. He said he did not know who authorised the payments. The speaker maintained his innocence and welcomed the investigations. He said the culprits should be arrested and prosecuted. He told journalists that the detectives visited his Milimani house around 6.30am with search warrants. ...

Kenya Defence Soldier Found Dead

A Kenya Defence Forces soldier was on Sunday found dead in a bush under unclear circumstances at Hindi area in Lamu County. The said soldier, before his death, was spotted running by the roadside while taking off his KDF attire and boots. Confirming the incident, Hindi MCA Anab Hajj said the deceased hung his pants on a tree in the bush where his body was found. The body of the deceased has since been taken by his fellow KDF soldiers pending autopsy before it is transferred to his home for burial.
